KNOW-HOW

At the Factory in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, the craftsmen of Maison Pinel et Pinel deploy all their know-how by devoting themselves with passion to the creation of both leather goods and imposing trunks. The craftsmen are involved in their creations: the piece of leather passes from hand to hand, the gestures follow one another with passion and precision.

All these ancestral professions gathered in the Factory bring together the know-how and the incomparable gesture of women and men, all contributing together to these beautiful achievements, in the permanent attachment to detail and excellence.

Craftsmenship

From idea to object...

It all begins with the designer Fred Pinel, who develops his initial sketches. The latter develops his first sketches which are then taken over by the 3D Designer, with his computer as his only tool, thus making it possible to perfectly visualize the rendering of a part before its production by the craftsmen.

This one passes the relay to the Prototypist-Developer. Before mass production of a leather goods item, the first piece made in the workshop goes through the hands of the prototypist. From 3D studies or not, it is about the development of the article: the prototype.

It is then in the hands of the Joiner and Cabinetmaker that the trunks, boxes and certain Pinel and Pinel bags are born. With the help of a plan, the carpenter makes the shaft and all the other existing wooden details on a trunk. He cuts, planes, machines to assemble the parts. He also makes wood veneers.

A bag, a trunk can have up to several dozen elements for its manufacture. All the parts of a model are gathered and prepared by the assembler.

The Assembler is the link between the cutter and the leatherworkers. The preparer organizes the assembly of leather goods. He prepares each of the stages: from slitting (reduction of the thickness of the material), through assembly, to hot stamping of the Pinel et Pinel logo. At each stage, the leather item passes back into the hands of the preparer.

The first step in making a bag or trunk takes place at the cutting table. This is where the Cutter prepares the pieces of leather which will then be assembled by leatherworkers or trunk makers.

At his table, the Leatherworker takes care of assembling the leather articles: he glues, he assembles, he re-edges using his bone folder.

Then comes the Saddler who is seated at the table. His tools allow him to sew leather goods by hand. Once the leather is scratched, it marks its stitch locations with an awl. He can then sew with a sewing needle and linen thread.

All machine stitching is done by the Mechanic. In front of his sewing machine, he assembles each piece of leather to make a bag or a small leather goods item.

Some models sometimes require specific technical developments. Thus, the Electronics Engineer prepares the components and assembles them on the trunks and boxes. It brings light, sound and other technologies such as Bluetooth or induction.

Before leaving for one of the Maison PINEL et PINEL stores or for a customer, each item made in the workshops finally goes through meticulous Quality control and is carefully packaged.
